My Surrogacy Story

Did you know that I was once a Gestational Surrogate? It's true! It's not something many people know about me but it's a very important part of my life. The pregnancy didn't end the way we all hoped, but the experience changed my life. To read more, check out my post at Burlington Vermont Moms Blog...

Thirty Five

A long time ago in a galaxy far far away, I was born.

I started out as this adorable little creature...

But quickly grew into this...

And things started getting really good when I became this...

And now, here I am, at 35 years old.
As this.

And I can't imagine being anything else in the world.
Happy Birthday, self. And might I add, you look pretty good for 35.

Excuse the bad photos, I snapped them straight out of scrapbooks with my phone. Lazy. Shut up it's my birthday.

Goodbye House

So if you know me or listen to me Tweet, you know we are moving from Indiana to Vermont next week.

Right now I am taking a break from packing.  It is really sad as I watch the warm comfy place we have called home for 7 years become just a shell of a house.  It's bare walls and countless nail holes are just a sad reminder of what it once was.

This is the house we brought our babies home in.

Chase took his first steps here and Charlie took his over there.

That hallway was the scene of the tragedy that ended in our first trip to the ER for stitches.

The bathroom was home to my sore bottom for many, many days as I sat on the floor to potty train three boys in it.

That mark on the wall has a funny story behind it.

I know the corners of this house like I know my back hand. Every inch is filled with memories. Both happy and sad.

This is the corner I cried in when I miscarried our fourth baby.

That corner over there is where I was sitting when I heard my Grandmother passed away.

If these walls could talk...it would be really loud in here.

If memories could be seen with our eyes I imagine they would be spilling out of the windows and flooding the streets.

You know, the ones we walked countless nights with strollers and learned to ride bikes on.

If these walls could talk they would have so many stories to tell.

As I pack up the boxes in each room, I imagine myself packing the memories as well.  That's the great part about memories.  You can take them with you.  They don't cling to the walls of this house.  The cling to the walls of our hearts.

And nothing, not even a billion big ugly sad tears can wash them away.

Good bye house. Thank you for being our home. For protecting us on stormy nights and holding the laughter and tears every so tightly in your four walls.

I hope and pray you bless the next family who lives here the way you have blessed us.

You Know You're A Mom of Boys When

Happy Mother's Day!

I wrote this a while back over at BellazizasFavorites.com and thought it was worth sharing again!

You Know You're A Mom of Boys When:

There is pee…everywhere…forget toilet seats, it’s everywhere people!

There are numerous daily conversations about underwear, snot and butts…in a completely serious manner.

There are numerous daily conversations about underwear, snot and butts…in a completely ridiculous and silly manner.

There are underwear strewn about the house in very strange places for no particular reason whatsoever. (case in point)

We use the word underwear a lot.

I am ALWAYS out of food. They are like little garbage disposals.

There is no pink to be found, except for the clothes on my back. And I barely get away with that. (”Mom, that’s a girl color!” HELLO! I’M A GIRL!!)

I have more hot wheels in my purse than I do cosmetics.

I break up at least 2-3 wrestling matches a day. Some with tears, most with screaming.

I can quote Star Wars…this is not something I am proud of, it’s just a fact.

I can make shooting noises, differing between pistols and bombs and such…again, not a super proud moment.

It only takes two dressers completely emptied to cover a small bedroom floor with clothes. This fact has been proven numerous times and you will come to find out all kinds of things that can cover the floor when you have boys.

Body parts…don’t get me started on that one.

Lego pieces can not be easily found in vacuum bags…or dog poop. Just sayin’.

Bath time is about the same as the “Will It Float” segments on the Late Show with David Letterman.

Photo shoots look like this:

And before it's all over with, like this:

I can’t complain though. I really DO love being a mom of boys. Dirty underwear and all.

Because being a Mom of boys also means that I get to play Monopoly Jr on a Friday night and have my Momma's boy say, "Mom, I made our cars kiss!"

AND...Two Words: Coach Mom

Being a Mom of boys is something special, that's for sure.  So bring on the legos up the nose and the "you're the best mom ever" Mother's Day cards with pictures of us shooting guns together.  I'm ready for it all.

About Me

A quick run down of who I am, because the readers other than my Mom and BFF might want to know...

My name is Tasha. My friends call me Tasha. My Dad calls me Toosie. Do not call me Toosie.

I am a Mom to three boys. Chandler is 9, Chase is 6 and Charlie is 5. They are boys. They are loud. I think God made them super cute just so I won't put them out by the side of the road with a free sign. Need I say much more?

I have been married to my husband, Matt for 11 years.  It feels like yesterday. It feels like a million years ago.
I am in love with him, nerdy quirks and all.

I love chocolate. I love scrapbooking. I love coffee that is barely coffee because of the amount of creamer I put in it.
Put the three together and I am one happy lady.

Cooking and baking are passions of mine. I am in charge of taking care of my family and their health. I take that job very seriously. So I do as much as I can from scratch, with real food.
It's good clean fun, folks.

I am imperfect. I am forgiven. Friends are my strength.
Family is my soul.

Sarcasm is my friend. Writing is my outlet.
Put the two together and you have this blog.

And that's about all you need to know about me!

Is This Thing On?

Hi everyone!

Welcome!

I am always getting emails from friends for recipes, endless phone calls with tearful fellow Mommies about parenting struggles and posting ideas and thoughts on Facebook to share with all my friends and family. So I thought starting a blog would be a fun and practical way to share it all in one spot! I have plans to write a cookbook or maybe even a book on general Mom stuff, but this is much easier for now!

Whether you are a stay at home Mom like myself or a working Mom, I hope you will find something here to help you, inspire you and encourage you in all your "Mommy Duties". You don't have to make everything from scratch to glean from this blog. I will be posting ideas, thoughts and recipes for every kind of Mom in every kind of situation!

So please feel free to follow me on my journey to make my family's happiness from scratch!

You can follow me on Twitter @MyHomemadeHappy and check out Bellazizas Favorite Things where I also write reviews and other fun stuff!

I'll start the recipe sharing with a link to my favorite quick chocolate fix! I already wrote a whole post on it at Bellaziza's Favorites last winter so I'll just send you over there!  The Most Dangerous Chocolate Cake Recipe Ever!

Enjoy!
